Do you know how funds work? There are thousands of investors and if that fund makes a 2% or 3% or a gaudy 10% each investor gets a small percentage of a profit. It's like a high-end CD.
I fail to see the story here on this one?
about a year ago there was a thread regarding the 2008 watchtower bible and tract society of new yorks tax return.. http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/287098/2008-watchtower-income-tax-return?page=1.
a reference was made to the provictor property fund iv which was listed as their primary alternate business activity.. turns out that at that time 75% of the chrysler building was owned by the provictor property fund iv until it was sold during that year.. http://money.cnn.com/2008/07/09/news/international/chrysler_building/?postversion=2008070913.
just thought you should know :).

people tell me all sorts of different opinions.
i seem to feel a constant feeling of dread and anxiety.
the possibility of god existing scares me but so does the possibility of him not.
It sounds like you are suffering from depression, which is nothing to be embarrassed about. If you don't have depression in this messed up world that wouldn't be normal.
You're depression might not even have anything to do with your upbringing or religion. It may be something you've inherited, so you need to have it treated no matter what you do. Being mentally ill can make you feel things that are not real and feelings and emotions that are not normal. It is simply a chemical imbalance. Certain chemicals in your brain don't get released enough and it makes you feel down, depressed, and even suicidal.
You need to try and see a therapist. They can give you medications that can balance these feelings out.
Don't try and fix this yourself. You need to ask for help!
according to the scriptures, jehovah makes his sun rise upon wicked people and good and makes it rain upon righteous people and unrighteous.
- matthew 5:45. in that case, if we look at the account in genesis, god is shown to give pharaoh a dream that he will cause seven years of famine.. genesis 41: pharaohs dreams.
25 then joseph said to pharaoh, the dreams of pharaoh are one and the same.
just on of the perks of being an apostate who is married to a branwashed, blinded jw woman.
you know, we have been married for ~27 years....most of which we had nothing to do with the piece of shite cult.
up till the begining of 2014 was when i woke up.
Hey, this has to do with trust and intimacy. If you're wife has lost her trust in you she is not going to want to be intimate. That is how most women work. If she came home and told you she was joining ISIS you might have the same reaction. To her that is what she is feeling (not that the two are the same; just using that as an example). You've got to be able to understand that and have some empathy for her. Her world has just been turned upside down. How would you feel if you were her?
It sucks, but it certainly is understandable, especially if you've been married a while.
how do i feel about this?.
too much doubt.. shame on you people who are responsible for putting richard to death.. richard is scheduled to be put to death in oklahoma at 3pm on september 16th by lethal injection.
i have followed this case and feel like so many people very bad about this.
i went to the kh a couple of weeks ago.
for a funeral.
i haven't been in a kh, except for funerals, for several years.
It seems to me it depends solely on the family how much a person is talked about in a funeral talk. I've seen some families ask that a person's whole life history be detailed. And I've seen other families basically tell the brother: have at it; say anything you want.
The latter is where you basically get a talk instead of a funeral talk.
does anyone here who goes to meetings know of anyone who comes to their meetings after being contacted on the trolleys?
anyone hear of a real bible study from these carts?.
exaggerations from the assembly platform or jw urban myths do not count!.

Just a little emotionless comment here:
There is child molestation in every land with JW's. It's frequency is very low compared to every country they are in compared to the national average and it is by far not even close to be anything out of the ordinary. If anything their rates of child molestation are shockingly low. Do you know what the molestation rates are by country for society in general? I think some of you should look this up and maybe you'll stop being surprised so much on these posts.
shooter in virginia of live news crew was raised a jw.
wonder if the borg will post anything about that?
doubt it
I don't see the connection. If he was an active member of the JW's that would be one thing, but saying he was raised a JW would mean that everyone here on this website is mentally deranged and a potential murderer because most of them were raised JW's or are ex-JW's.
If he had been raised a Catholic or raised a Jew what would that have to do with anything? Especially, if that person isn't connected to that faith anymore. Aside from being interesting it's meaningless. The guy obviously was mentally ill. Mental illness attacks everyone from every sector.
Humans are humans with human failings, and sometimes we connect dots where there is no connection.
i have been searching the better part of this morning to find the thread in which somebody commented on 1006 known pedophiles which equals 3 elders at each jc and the totals on how many elders did not report to police (3000?
) and also how many known victims in australia.
i think they also broke it down to how many victims that would average each week/month for the last 60 + years.
To set things a little clearer. The national average in the U.S. for children who are molested is 26%. This comes from the CDC.
Using the commission's numbers of 1,006 reported cases of kids who were molested that comes out to 0.6 percent. So let's say we triple that for all the cases not reported and you would come out to 1.8 percent of Witness kids who were molested.
If you want to calculated the number of elders who knew about molestation cases you would times 1006 by 3 = 3018, but you would have to extrapolate that some of those elders would have been the same men on different committees, so round it off to about 2,500 elders.
To be fair, and from my experience I know this is true, child molestation was not looked at the way it is now. Back in the 40's, 50's, 60's, and even the 70's child molestation was taboo and nobody talked about it or came forward with it to authorities. It wasn't until you had Donahue and Oprah bringing these types of taboo subjects in the 1980's that people started to come forward about it, so it isn't surprising that pre-1980's and 1990's nobody would have gone to authorities, and it was too shameful for the victims for anyone to know, because back then they blamed the victims in society. Child molestation and how it is handled in society as a whole has rapidly changed in the 21st Century.
I had a friend who was raped by a Catholic Priest for 10 years in the 70's and 80's! When he told his Catholic father his father punched him in the face for saying such a horrible thing about that priest. People didn't speak about those types of things. By the way, that Catholic priest was later found out to have raped about 400 boys over the coarse of his priesthood.
So this is a very hot-button subject, but you have to look at it taking into consideration many different aspects: the times they happened in, societal viewpoint that had an affect at the time, etc., etc.
If these things happened now they would be looked at differently by not only witnesses, law enforcement, but society as well. People didn't go to police when kids were molested 20, 30, 40 years ago. They just didn't. It was very rare and extremely taboo.
I'm not trying to be fair and balanced; just point out the obvious.
